Probably can’t answer for a while though. I need to pay attention.

Given the current economic state of the world and the many fears for the future since the Brexit, what do you think about our chances of seeing a sweet bro-smackdown on WWF between the uncontested hair champ Trump and possible future PM Boris Johnson? (That sweet flaxen haired nymph)

I think we're more likely to see Boris the Spidermonkey than The Donald. It's a bit early to say though.

Mouret - Rondeau?

Yes, for the B&G. Then Hornpipe for everybody else. My dollar-to-note ratio was very high today.

Not this time. But it is a Catholic church.

Play some Skynyrd! Stairway!
Seriously though, I’ll give you $5 to play the Imperial Star Fleet theme instead of “Here Comes The Bride.”
And a question: What brand and how old is your horn?

Of the two horns in the photo, the on one on the left is a Bach 239 with a 25A lead pipe. I bought it from my teacher in 1987, not sure how old it was then. The picc is a Schilke P5-4. I bought that at about the same time. My B-flat, another Bach (37) is almost 40 years old now.

Whatchu playin?

Trumpet. Oh, the music? The standard stuff: Jesu Joy, Trumpet Voluntary, Rondeau, Hornpipe. Easy stuff.

Do you play any other instruments? I assume there’s a likelihood you've tested other waters in the horn family at least.

Hourly rate?

Nice. I’ve done the Mouret Rondeau as the organist before. (Although I’m far more a pianist)

Per service: $200. That’s for prelude, ceremony, and maybe a postlude. Usually about 40-60 minutes of actual service, but there’s travel there and back, plus early arrival to rehearse with the organist.

I play regularly for a local private school graduation, and the woman who plays organ is a pianist by training. For one of the pieces, she had another member of the music faculty sit on the bench with her and play the pedal part on the keyboard.

Nope. Only ever trumpet. When getting my bachelor’s degree in trumpet performance, I had to demonstrate a certain level of proficiency on piano, but it was hardly enough to be usable. I wish I played piano, but I can’t. I’ve taught a class to music ed majors who need to have a basic knowledge of all the brass instruments. I had to take horn, trombone and tuba lessons myself before teaching the class.

Good rate for a quick gig. I would have taken $150 if they threw in a catered meal at the reception, or open bar. ^_-

Good rate, they just don’t come very often.

I’ve always wanted to play piano, too. I’m sure I’d be more inclined to sit down and learn if I had access to one.

You can get good electronic ones with similar action to a traditional piano.

Yeah, I’m stuck in the catch 22 of wanting to play piano and not having one vs. not wanting to spend money on something I might not use.

I know the feeling. That’s why god created Craigslist.

We bought an old upright piano for $200.

Playing Taps?
Haw, haw. I made a funny.
My supervisor made extra cash in high school by playing taps for military funerals.

I’ve played taps once in my career. It was quite difficult, and I’m not sure if I'd do it again.
